mead is a unique, centuries old alcoholic drink produced by the natural fermentation of honey. This honey wine is best known for being the favourite Viking-drink. A less known fact is that mead also used to be a popular drink in the Low Countries, until it was overtaken by the large scale trade in French and German wines and the growing popularity of beer and distilled spirits. Since then mead and the art of meadmaking has slowly been forgotten in the Netherlands.
The Delft Meadery would like to change that and has made it its mission to reintroduce this ancient, versatile and delightful drink to the Dutch public.
